EdgeConneX mission extends beyond building data centers. Through our “Customers, People, Planet” initiative, we strive to be good neighbors and active
participants in the communities where we operate. This commitment is brought to life through our three-year sponsorship agreement with Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club in Dublin, Ireland. This partnership, which directly supports the Senior Camogie and Intermediate Ladies Football teams, represents more than just a financial contribution; it is a testament to our decade-long investment in infrastructure in Ireland and to our dedication to fostering meaningful relationships with our neighbors at Grange Castle Business Park.
A Shared Vision for Community and Resilience
Sports have a unique way of binding communities together, fostering values like respect, resilience, and teamwork. These are core values we share at EdgeConneX, making our collaboration with Lucan Sarsfields a natural fit. Our goal is to enrich the lives of players and the broader community by providing the support these teams need to thrive.
“Watching these girls play with such heart and determination week after week has always been inspiring but seeing EdgeConneX step up to support their journey makes me incredibly proud. This partnership isn’t just about funding; it’s about validating their hard work and showing them that their community—and their neighbors—believe in their potential just as much as I do.” — Mary O’Connell, VP PMO – EdgeConneX
Mary Flannery, Chairperson of Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club, emphasized the transformative power of corporate support. “When a company like EdgeConneX comes in and supports a team like that, there’s huge benefit for that team but also the rest of the community,” Flannery said. “It adds that extra bit that allows us to be hugely competitive on the pitch.”
This competitiveness was evident as the Senior Camogie team came off a very strong 2025 season, setting the stage for what looks to be a stellar year ahead.
Championing Women in Sports
One of the most critical aspects of this partnership is its focus on female athletes. Keeping young women engaged in sports is a global challenge. Sara Hickey, who leads Fundraising & Support for Lucan Sarsfields, highlighted the stark reality of participation rates.
“Statistics show that a lot of girls drop out of sports by the age of 14, twice the rate that boys do. By the age of 20, almost half of women drop out of sports,” Hickey explained. “A partnership like this has really given a lift to the club and a lift to the women’s section of our club. It really inspires the girls and inspires the younger females coming up as well to see this level of partnership and sponsorship—a lift in the ladies’ teams of Lucan Sarsfields.”

For the players themselves, seeing a global company invest in their future is a powerful motivator. Aoife Seery, the Football Team Captain, noted the visual impact of the support. “Head to toe in black, green, and white, it’s great to see that,” Seery said. “For the team to see this type of investment into female sports, it just means that they have something to strive for, which is so important.”
Abby Shiels, the Football Team Goalkeeper, reflected on the deep roots many players have in the area. “We are all lucky to be a part of this parish, and we have played for this club as long as I can remember, since we were young.”
Beyond the Pitch: Investing in Facilities and the Planet
Our “Customers, People, Planet” mission means we look at impact holistically. While the sponsorship provides crucial funding for the ladies’ teams—helping to improve pitches and fundraise for floodlights to enable year-round training—our engagement goes deeper. We recognize that facilities are often a challenge for growing clubs. With increasing
participation comes the need for more playing pitches and better resources. To support the club’s environmental goals and our own commitment to the planet, EdgeConneX, in conjunction with BCEI, supplied and delivered 10 tons of topsoil to the club grounds.
This contribution enabled Lucan Sarsfields, in collaboration with the 100 Million Trees Project, to advance the planting of a Miyawaki Forest comprising 1,700 native trees. This initiative was part of the club’s biodiversity plan and marked a significant step toward environmental sustainability. Today, Lucan Sarsfields are stewards of the largest mini forest on any sporting site in a Dublin community club ground.
Sara Hickey noted this broader engagement: “Your support is evident across all communities you operate globally. And the support you have shown us, the investment in our mini forest, and the donation of all that soil have been a huge help to us. You engage very well.”
Building for the Future
The aspirations for Lucan Sarsfields are high. The club aims to win championships and foster ambition among younger players to reach higher levels, such as county teams. While challenges like limited facilities persist, partnerships like ours aim to bridge the gap by providing scholarships, educational opportunities, and the resources needed to grow.
Colm Farrell, Vice Chairperson of Lucan Sarsfields, shared his appreciation for the ongoing collaboration. “I’d like to sincerely add a deep heartfelt thanks to EdgeConneX. You have been fantastic, and I hope our collaboration continues for many years.”
Angela Capon, VP of Marketing, speaking on behalf of EdgeConneX, reiterated our long-term wish for the club: “We sincerely hope for the continued success of this team and truly value our collaboration. We can’t wait to see what these girls will achieve in the years to come.”
A Commitment to Being Good Neighbors
As we look to the future, EdgeConneX remains committed to being a supportive neighbor in Dublin and beyond. By investing in local initiatives like the Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club, we are not just supporting a game; we are investing in the people who play it and the planet we all share. We look forward to cheering on the teams in the coming seasons and watching the new forest grow alongside the club’s success!
