As we expand our presence in Japan, our commitment to local communities is growing alongside it. One example is the Kyotanabe PC Project, a community engagement initiative that will provide advanced computer technology to students in Kyotanabe City, Kyoto Prefecture.
The project began after our representatives met with leaders from the Kyotanabe City Board of Education and local government officials to learn how we could make a meaningful contribution to the community surrounding our developing data center operations. During those discussions, city leaders shared plans for new Multi-Learning Classrooms and identified technology access as an important opportunity for support.
Following several months of collaboration, planning, and internal approvals, we committed to funding computer equipment for three municipal junior high schools in Kyotanabe. The schools serve more than 1,900 students collectively, creating an opportunity for the donation to benefit a broad cross-section of the local student population.
Working closely with city officials, educators, and local technology suppliers, the project evolved from an initial concept of desktop computers into a modern learning environment built around high-performance laptop computers, monitors, and related technology. The equipment is intended to support innovative teaching methods, collaborative learning, and expanded digital skills development within the new Multi-Learning Classrooms.
The initiative reflects our belief that digital infrastructure companies can play an important role in helping prepare future generations for an increasingly technology-driven world. Throughout the planning process, Kyotanabe City officials emphasized their interest not only in receiving equipment, but also in building a long-term relationship focused on education and community development. Discussions have included opportunities for future engagement, technology awareness activities, and sharing insights about digital infrastructure careers.
According to project plans, equipment delivery is expected to coincide with completion of the schools’ Multi-Learning Classroom facilities. Installation is currently planned for early 2027, followed by a donation ceremony that will bring together students, school leadership, city officials, and EdgeConneX representatives. The city has expressed a strong desire for students to understand the purpose behind the gift and recognize how private-sector partnerships can help strengthen educational opportunities in their community.
For us, the Kyotanabe PC Project is more than a technology donation. It is an investment in students, educators, and the future of the community we are proud to be joining. By helping create new opportunities for learning and digital literacy, we hope to contribute to an environment where young people can explore, create, collaborate, and develop the skills that will shape tomorrow’s digital economy.
