As we kick off Earth Month 2026, we reflect on why sustainability matters more than ever for EdgeConneX as we are building the infrastructure of the AI era. Sustainability isn’t just a commitment; it’s a core part of how we operate, innovate, and grow. Our theme this year, Planet in Progress, highlights the tangible actions we’re taking to create a sustainable future. These aren’t aspirational goals; they’re verified, operational commitments driven by a global team that shows up every day to make them real.
Key Milestones Achieved
In the past year, we’ve made significant strides toward our sustainability goals:
- Achieved carbon neutrality for Scope 1 & 2 emissions.
- Earned UL 2799 Landfill Diversion certification for our data centers in Jakarta, Santiago, and Brussels.
Partnered with River Partners to restore over 350 acres of farmland at Hidden Valley Ranch in California, planting 80,000 native trees and plants to replenish 2.61 million gallons of water annually. (We will share more about the latest developments soon!) - Advancing our water stewardship through strategic partnerships like Kilimo in Chile’s Maipo River Basin. By leveraging AI-based irrigation optimization tools, we’re helping local farmers improve water efficiency, enhance crop resilience, and strengthen the basin’s ecosystem. This initiative not only supports sustainable agriculture but also delivers measurable water benefits that directly support our operations in the region.
Around the World for Earth Month: EdgeConneX Goes Global
Throughout April, EdgeConneX teams across four continents will demonstrate that sustainability is a shared culture within our company. From rolling up our sleeves alongside River Partners to support habitat restoration and long-term water resilience, to hands-on action through recycling, seed planting, trash pickups, and community volunteer activities, to practical everyday changes that reduce waste and strengthen environmental awareness. Every hour volunteered, every acre restored, every gram diverted from landfill is part of the same commitment—local action that ladders up to a global mission: building the infrastructure of the AI era responsibly, with communities and the planet in mind.
We’re also continuing our support of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), aligning our Planet pillar with WWF’s mission to protect nature, freshwater, and biodiversity. To celebrate, we’re sponsoring symbolic animal adoptions in each of our regions—North America, South America, APAC, and EMEA—supporting WWF’s global conservation work.
