Construction Safety Week Showcases Major Safety Milestones and Initiatives across EdgeConneX

Safety isn’t a checkbox at EdgeConneX—it’s the foundation of everything we do. From constructing cutting-edge data centers to maintaining them for daily operation, we are unwavering in our commitment to protecting everyone involved. This Construction Safety Week, from May 5th to May 9th, we’re taking the opportunity to reinforce our safety culture across our global portfolio of projects, spotlighting the dedicated teams and innovative solutions that make it all possible.

Jackson Menke“Every high-performing team begins the day with a thoughtful, well-constructed plan that thoroughly addresses every aspect of every task. At EdgeConneX, this detailed approach ensures safety is never compromised and that our teams can work together seamlessly to deliver world-class results while protecting what’s most important—our people.” – Jackson Menke, Director of Construction Safety – EdgeConneX

EdgeConneX prioritizes safety as a core value by integrating safety measures into our operations and culture. During Safety Week, we’ll continue our focus on key areas such as working at heights, mental health, and proper lifting techniques. By providing trainings, clear instructions and fostering a culture of vigilance, we ensure safety becomes second nature for our teams. We also encourage and reward individuals to speak up when they see any safety issues, and we honor achievements with project-wide celebrations commemorating the incredible milestones our teams have accomplished.

Brian Green“Our Customers, People, Planet mission is built on the firm belief that safety underpins all progress. With increasingly compressed timelines and growing demands for data center capacity, we can never afford to compromise safety.”  – Brian Green, Executive Vice President, Engineering and Ops – EdgeConneX

Collaboration for Safety Excellence

Our commitment to safety extends to our trusted partners, including Burr Computer Environments Inc. (BCEI). Together, we’ve achieved remarkable results, such as 8 million safe work hours at our Jakarta data center. With thousands of employees, contractors, and sub-contractors across our global sites, milestones such as this one are a testament to every crew member’s leadership, collaboration, and heart.

Additionally, through our partnership with DataScope Systems, we’ve enhanced on-site safety management across our data center deployments. This technology allows us to strategically plan, manage, and track performance, ensuring adherence to safety standards and reducing risks in real time.

“Safety is about people,” continued Jackson Menke. “It’s about knowing the whys of those you work with. It’s about developing trust because trust fosters accountability, which is the essence of a safe environment.”

Building on a Legacy of Safe Practices

This year also paves the way for our 3rd Annual Safety Summit, a unique gathering of safety leaders and experts from our partners and customers, united by a mission to continually improve our safety standards. The EdgeConneX Safety Summit embodies our principles of collaboration and excellence, ensuring we move forward with a shared vision of zero-compromise safety.

We’re also proud to announce that we’ve successfully completed ISO 45001 audits across multiple locations, further solidifying our commitment to world-class safety practices, and constantly raising the bar for safety compliance.

A Unified Message for Safety

Reinforcing safety across every EdgeConneX location is an on-going effort. We’ve introduced Cross-Company Safety Bulletins, which were created with input from safety leaders across our partner organizations. These bulletins are distributed quarterly, providing actionable insights and highlighting emerging safety trends.

At EdgeConneX, our message remains simple but powerful—we all share the responsibility of protecting our people, no matter where we operate.

Closing Thoughts

Construction Safety Week isn’t just a campaign for us; it’s a reminder to reflect on our progress and recommit to the safety and well-being of everyone involved in our projects. We’re building a safer, stronger future together by celebrating our milestones, supporting our teams, and fostering collaboration.

Jackson Menke puts it best, “When safety becomes a shared value, it transcends job sites. It becomes the heartbeat of everything we do.”

Join us this Construction Safety Week as we continue to prioritize safety for our customers, people, and the planet. Together, we can create an environment where progress and protection go hand in hand.
