Texas is building America's future and Bastrop County is part of that story.
The technology that will define the next century of economic strength and national security runs on infrastructure and that infrastructure is being built right here. Texas is on track to become the largest data center market in the world by 2030, with more new capacity under construction than any other state. The energy, the land, the workforce, and the can-do attitude that built the American oil and space industries are now building the backbone of American competitiveness. Bastrop County is part of that story. The EdgeConneX campus here is Texas infrastructure, built by Texans, powering American innovation for the world.
Texas is projected to become the largest data center market on Earth by 2030, surpassing every other state and country.
Texas produces more energy than any other state, the foundation that makes American AI leadership possible.

EdgeConneX is a global data center company. Our Bastrop County campus is one of our largest investments in Texas, and we take seriously what it means to build here. That means roads, school programs, parks, and real connections with the people and organizations that make this county what it is.

Multi-year education investment across 4 school districts through 2030.
Bastrop ISD, Elgin ISD, McDade ISD, and Smithville ISD, all covered.
Community park space dedicated to Bastrop County, a long-term public gift.
These are real, specific commitments. Here’s where we stand.
Roads
ECX is funding TxDOT roadwork in Bastrop County. The widening and improvements benefit the whole community.
Education
We’ve committed to 5 years (through school year 2029–30) to bring the Hello World AI and coding program to Bastrop ISD, Elgin ISD, McDade ISD, and Smithville ISD.
Community Park
We’ve secured approval to dedicate a 25-acre property as public park space. This land is a permanent gift to the county.
Infrastructure
ECX provided funding for a school road easement and construction to improve safe access for students and the surrounding community.
Education Foundation
Our title sponsorship in 2026 helps fund teacher grants for classroom projects and teacher initiatives.
EDUCATION
In 2026, we hosted a booth at STEAMfest to talk with students, parents, and teachers about data center careers and sustainability. These conversations matter to us.
Agriculture & Youth
We sponsored the Elgin Livestock Show 4-H Mock Auction and the Smithville FFA Jamboree, connecting with young people and the agricultural roots of this county.
We believe access to computer science and AI education should start early and reach every student – not just those in well-resourced districts. Here’s what we’re doing in Texas.
In partnership with Hello World Learning Platform, we’ve committed to fund AI and Digital literacy curriculum across all four Bastrop County school districts over the next five years. The program is designed to scale with district enrollment, so as more students join, the program grows with them.
Our goal for 2027 is Bastrop County’s first-ever Demo Day, where students from every district present AI, coding, and STEM projects to county leaders, superintendents, and parents.
NEW PROGRAM – IN DEVELOPMENT
We’re developing a new program with Austin Community College that creates a direct, practical pathway from ACC’s trades program into ECX’s Junior Operations training program and from there, into full data center operations roles. This is for people who want a real job in a growing field, not just a credential. The program is being designed so that the skills learned at ACC translate directly into what’s needed to work on an ECX team. We’re eager to share more details and will provide updates as the program takes shape.
Students reached across 3 markets as of 2026.
Schools supported through the Hello World program.
Teachers supported with training and classroom resources.
Our 2027 goal: Reach 100K students annually and bring computer science and AI literacy to classrooms globally.
Data centers do more than store information – they support industries, create jobs, and enable tools that communities rely on every day. These short videos explain how.
AI is already transforming agriculture, healthcare, and public services, and data centers are the infrastructure making it all possible.
Cloud-powered government services depend on data centers, and EdgeConneX is proud to support that critical infrastructure.
We were honored to welcome Mayor Vince Williams, Mayor of Union City, GA, who joined us to celebrate these future leaders alongside friends, family, educators, and engineers from Google.
